Gieves & Hawkes: Bespoke for Gentlemen Since 1771
Very few companies operating today can claim what Gieves & Hawkes are proud to be: a retail business since 1771 – in short, alive and kicking for the past two and a half centuries and counting. Now owned by Hong Kong company Trinity Ltd., Gieves & Hawkes has the honor of being one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious continual bespoke and tailoring companies.
Founded by Thomas Hawkes and James Watson Gieve, Gieves & Hawkes was originally a tailoring service for the British Army and Royal Navy, first opening on Brewer Street in London. Because of this early relationship, Gieves & Hawkes earned itself Royal Warrants in the course of its history, with King George III, Winston Churchill, Michael Jackson, David Beckham, Mikhail Gorbachev, US Presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush and the late Diana, Princess of Wales counted among its most esteemed customers. Gieves & Hawkes’ headquarters are on Number 1 Savile Row in London, and the company continues to retain its prestige through its quality products.
